"The pictures are autobiographical; a window into Vallée’s life in 90s London. However, they have a wider historical and political significance, capturing queer youth as the gay community slowly emerged from the horror of the 80s and early-90s global AIDS epidemic..."
-
British Journal of Photography, December, 2022.

“As a teenager of the 80s with Thatcher, AIDS and Clause 28 it’s not a surprise I ended up documenting my friends when I got to art school in the 90s...”

Jack Scollard - The Horny of Plenty

Jack Scollard will present prints from their 110 page zineThe Horny of Plenty: a compilation of images taken in London over the space of 12 months released in April 2023. The zine is intended as a meditation, capturing the ceaseless intensity and boundless beauty of a city that never knows when to stop. Whether it’s sporadic snapshots in club cubicles, tender portraits at the lakes deep in the city’s outskirts or intimate moments during after parties, these vibrant shots testify to a quest for vitality and connection that followed two years of lockdowns.

“Dedicated to “anyone in London who showed me kindness… or their cock”, the 104-page zine captures the zeitgeist of the capital’s unrelenting pursuit of pleasure, while opening up conversations around queer people and our relationships with sex, stigma and addiction. Depicting intimate portraits of friendship, lovers and liaisons alike, Scollard creates a seductive sense of belonging in their photography, guiding the viewer to step inside club toilet cubicles with the promise of an unforgettable afterparty.”
