Jonah Criswell – Fernweh

An exhibition of drawings by Jonah Criswell
ReTramp Gallery, Reuterstrasse 62, Berlin Germany
October 2015.

“These drawings for me are an act of longing for a better self. Using personal artifacts as still life subjects, I work to find and converse with my youth. Additionally, some of the works reference television shows that I watch. The conversation between my visual language and the “returned image” in all of these works describe the exchange between a strange world and a fragility that I find exciting and humane.”

Jonah Criswell was born in Springfield Missouri and raised in Pensacola Florida. He possesses an MFA from Pennsylvania State University and a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute. His drawings and paintings are often concerned with the romantic, mystic and unknown. His work has been exhibited in Kansas City, New York, and Berlin. He currently teaches in the Painting department at the Kansas City Art Institute.

No. Don’t think they can die just yet. Thl;e&#8217rel always be a couple of people who’ll stick to these. I know, there are times when you *just* *can’t* *find* *the* *time*, but I think it’s just a phase for people like you and me. But yes, I do know of these ‘dead blogs’ of which you speak. For some, it’s just a phase.

  2. It’s really very difficult in this active life to listen news on TV, thus I simply
use internet for that purpose, and obtain the most up-to-date information.
